Q: If elected, what will you do about parking commercial vehicles in neighborhoods?

A: I checked with the city code, finding the parking code violation statute is § 71.02 Violations (https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/sierravista/latest/sierravista_az/0-0-0-11226.) Without further research, it does not specifically address parking in residential areas.

I have contacted the city with your question. However, without further research, it does not specifically address parking in residential areas. I would recommend you write a letter to the city and request they amend Statute 71.02 Violations to limit or exclude parking of commercial vehicles in residential areas. That may present a problem for your neighbors who are truck drivers and that should be a consideration. Another option would be to request a NO PARKING sign be installed in the area where the problem is occurring.

I have quickly learned there are more sides to every story, and sometimes we have to walk in another person's shoes to understand their perspective. I think this is another situation when citizens need to speak out to their government and request an answer as to policy. However, I can add this to a list of questions I have for the city.
